Windows release that draws Mermaid diagrams in the Markdown preview, keeps typing fast in very large files and fixes a set of editing, saving and update bugs.
Highlights
- The Markdown preview draws
mermaidcode blocks as diagrams, in colours that match the app theme. The preview now runs on Microsoft Edge WebView2, and links open in your default browser - Bracket highlighting no longer slows typing in very large files: 20 keystrokes in a 50 MB file take under a second instead of about 50 seconds
- Find no longer hangs on regular expressions that can match empty text, and Replace changes a selection only when it matches
- Find in Files no longer damages characters in files that are not UTF-8
- Bookmarks move with their text when lines are inserted or deleted above them
- ANSI files keep their encoding when a session is restored, and tabs for files that can no longer be read are not tied to their old path
- JSON pretty print and minify keep strings and escape sequences exactly as written
- Move to Other View no longer duplicates cloned tabs
- Changes made to a modified file by another program always ask before reloading
- Help > Update closes the app the normal way, so Cancel works and the session is saved. The update also handles folders with non-English names and waits until the old copy is closed before replacing it
- Saving no longer overwrites a
.tmpfile that happens to sit next to the document
Requirements
- Windows 10 version 1809 or later (build 17763)
- 64-bit (win-x64) self-contained installer-free executable
- The Markdown preview needs the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime, which is included in Windows 11 and in updated Windows 10
Notes
Installed copies of 1.1.5 and earlier cannot verify this update, because they trust the previous signing key. Download 1.1.8 once from this page and replace your copy. Copies of 1.1.7 update from inside the application as usual.
This release is distributed as an unsigned executable. Verify the published SHA-256 checksum before running. Auto-update trust comes from the separately signed stable manifest, not Authenticode on the executable.
