A much more capable editor: type directly on the image, select, move, resize and rotate what you have drawn, copy and paste objects, and manage tabs from a right-click menu. The About window now shows your version and update status, and a batch of reliability fixes is included.
Highlights
- Type on the image. The Text tool no longer opens a dialog. Click and type in place and the box grows as you type. Enter finishes, Shift+Enter adds a line, and Ctrl+ and Ctrl- change the text size while you type. There is a new text-size box on the toolbar
- Select, resize and rotate. A selected object shows a dashed box with resize grips and a rotate grip (hold Shift to snap to 15 degrees). Lines and arrows get grips on their ends. All of it can be undone, and Delete removes the selection
- Copy and paste objects. Right-click an object for Delete, Copy and Paste, or use Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V. Once something else is copied, Ctrl+V still pastes a clipboard image as a new tab
- Tab menu. Right-click a tab to Duplicate, Copy image, Save as, Close, Close others, Close to the right or Close all
- Clearer tools. Only the left mouse button draws, and a click adds a default-sized shape. Tools have their own cursors, the active tool is highlighted on the toolbar, the Blur icon no longer looks like brightness, and Save As now defaults to JPEG
- About shows your version. The About window shows the installed version and whether an update is available, downloading, up to date or unknown, and it now fits its content on scaled displays
- Output directory removed from Settings. The field did nothing in the app, because Save always asks where to save. The command-line mode still saves to the output directory in
settings.json
Fixes
- Clicking in a second tab no longer crashes the editor
- The Last Region hotkey now remembers the region you selected, so it works. It used to do nothing
- A failed Save, Print or Email now shows a message in the status bar instead of closing the app and losing your open tabs
- Updating now copes with non-ASCII user profile names and waits properly for the old copy to close before replacing it
- Startup, timer and tray update checks can no longer collide with each other
- Settings import and export only accept files inside your own user profile folder
- The command line now saves in the format you configured. It used to write PNG data into a
.jpgfile./capture regionnow explains that it needs a region from a running copy
Requirements
- Windows 10 version 1809 or later (build 17763)
- 64-bit (win-x64) self-contained installer-free executable
Notes
Installed copies of 1.1.2 and later update from inside the application as usual. Copies of 1.1.1 and earlier trust the previous signing key and cannot verify this update; download 1.1.6 once from this page and replace your copy.
This release is distributed as an unsigned executable. Verify the published SHA-256 checksum before running. Auto-update trust comes from the separately signed stable manifest, not Authenticode on the executable.
