First public website release, with installation and signed automatic updates.
Highlights
- Switch to another Windows account that is already signed in, from the tray icon, a switcher above the tray, or a per-account keyboard shortcut, without signing anyone out
- Never signs an account in: accounts without a Windows session show as not signed in, and an active Remote Desktop session is never taken over
- Each account runs its own copy, which asks for administrator approval on its first switch; optionally start as administrator at sign-in through a Task Scheduler task so switching never asks
- Save an account's password in Windows Credential Manager only if you choose to, and only after Windows accepts it
- Local, Microsoft and domain accounts; System, Light or Dark appearance; in-app Help
- Install User Switcher from its tray icon into Program Files, with an Installed apps entry and Start menu shortcut
- Automatic updates verify the ECDSA-signed
stable.jsonmanifest and the SHA-256 of the downloaded executable, check the new version starts before replacing anything, restart every account's copy, and keep the previous version for rollback
Requirements
- Windows 10 version 1809 or later (build 17763)
- 64-bit (win-x64) self-contained executable
- An administrator account for switching
Notes
This release is distributed as an unsigned executable. Verify the published SHA-256 checksum before running. Update trust comes from the separately signed stable manifest, not Authenticode on the executable.
